In December of 1976, Christopher Brooks was born into a Christian home in the Metro Detroit area. Early in his childhood, young Christopher began attending Evangel Ministries where he received the Lord at age 13. Soon following his conversion he grew exceedingly passionate for the Lord and the Word of God. Christopher began to use his talent of influence to stir up his peers in Evangel’s youth ministry, Chosen Generation. Whole-heartedly he challenged them to win their generation for Christ! With that feat, he became one of the first youth leaders in the ministry.
As a bright and studious young man he excelled at many of his endeavors. With the discipline taught him by his father he found himself applying to Michigan State University, one of Michigan’s chief colleges.
In 1993, at the age of 16 Pastor Brooks was admitted to Michigan State University; but along with his scholastic achievements came his true passion. Within his first semester at the college he started his campus ministry in his dormitory. The ministry began with two members and quickly grew to 90. Through his help and leadership several other campus ministries were created.
While attending college, Christopher met a wonderful Christian young woman, Yodit Prince, who shared in his passion for the Lord Jesus Christ. After four years of courting, the young couple married in 1997; and they are still complementing each other in ministry today.
After graduating from MSU with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Finance and Administration, he worked in the area of Investment Planning and Financial Management with the investment firm Morgan Stanley. Pastor Brooks became certified as a Financial Advisor with seven licenses in insurance, investments, and estate planning; his range of expertise includes financial planning for individual families, corporate investments, and endowment fund management for non-profits.
While working in Corporate America, Pastor Brooks continued his service to the Lord by teaching pastors financial literacy around the Detroit area and also lead the youth group that he was once a part of, Chosen Generation, as their Youth Pastor.
Soon after founding the Financial Stewardship Program in 1999, Pastor Brooks obeyed the call to full-time ministry. In October 2000 Christopher Brooks became the Executive Pastor of Evangel Ministries. He joined a great team of ministers led by Rev. George W. Bogle, and began to flourish growing more passionate for the word of God and his willingness to serve people.
It wasn’t long after his transition that Rev. George W. Bogle announced his decision to make Pastor Brooks the Senior Pastor and he would become the Pastor Emeritus. In January 2004, Pastor Brooks was installed as the Senior Pastor over a congregation with more than 1,500 members in the city of Detroit. Pastor Brooks continues to work closely with Pastor Bogle; together they developed many outreach ministries that would encourage members of Evangel and the surrounding community.
Currently, Pastor Brooks teaches a leadership courses designed to produce world-class Christian leaders who will succeed in all areas of life. He also teaches Systematic Theology and Hermeneutics. Christopher Brooks can be heard daily at 3:00pm during the week on WLQV 1500AM in Detroit, MI.
